Composer/artist wants to blog – Should I create two blogs or just one?

Question by Alexander K: Composer/artist wants to blog – Should I create two blogs or just one?
Hello!

I am a music composer and an artist and I am thinking of blogging and using my blog as a venue for my music and my art. I am currently trying to come up with a good domain name and I find it difficult to come up with a simple yet effective name which combines my last name and the theme of the blog (music composition and art). So, it just dawned upon me whether it would be better if I actually did two separate blogs, one for my music and one for my art. The pros are that it would be easier to come up with a name for both my blogs, that I would have two blogs hence more exposure and third that each blog would be focused on one theme. On the other hand, two blogs means double amount of work, and being a novice in blogging that is certainly something to consider. Also, having a blog for both music composition and art makes it easier to update my blog more frequently with new content and the variety of content would make it in my opinion more interesting…

What is your opinion? Should I create two blogs or one focusing on both composition and art? If so, how could that be reflected on my domain name? Thanks in advance!

yeah I think you should create 2 , so that you can specify and focus on both.

What is a good blog that is free to type my my goal to 300 pounds to 140 pounds within 7 weeks?

Question by Connie J: What is a good blog that is free to type my my goal to 300 pounds to 140 pounds within 7 weeks?
Yes serious, but need a free bloging area. One where they don’t ask for money later. I want to type my life each day or maybe three times a week and show people I can lose that amount of weight within the time period and without so called dying.

In general what is a good free blogging area?

I will mention the possible risks, the pros ect.
My real weight loss goal is 125, but 140 is awesome too for starts.
I said I needed a blog site, not a pricey worthless product : /

But thanks.

What is the best website to start a blog?

Question by gefrie: What is the best website to start a blog?
Eventually if successful, I’d like to be able to monetize it to place ads using google adsense services, but for now I’d like something that would be able to display pictures I host somewhere else, or videos from places like YouTube.

I would also like to have an RSS feed where I would be able to decide if I want to ‘push’ the whole blog posting to be published to a user’s feed reader or just a preview so that they would have to click back to my blog posting.

I would start at least with getting my own url so people would have an easy address to remember instead of a longer more complex url.

What is the best blogging software you would suggest?

What are the pros and cons of sites such as blogger or wordpress?
What should I consider when it comes to things like facebook and twitter integration?
And the ability for people to comment on posts that I write are pretty important too.

Who can give me some information about starting a blog?

Question by Anonymice: Who can give me some information about starting a blog?
I love to write, but I have very little experience with online blogging. I’m looking to start my own in a couple of days, but have no idea where to begin. I know that I’ll need to go through a free site, but I would very much appreciate it if someone would outline the major ‘blog’ sites for me and explain the differences between them. Please don’t just say ‘blogger.com’ or whatever… give me the pro’s and con’s in terms of organization, formatting, personalization, etc, and WHY is it the best choice.

Also, please include the link to a couple of example blogs, and include which host or site they are through.

Much, MUCH appreciated, and I will pick a best answer.

Thank you :)

I think your best choices are wordpress and blogger. They are pretty much the same but i will summarize some info i got from wikipedia:

“Blogger has imposed the following limitations on content storage and bandwidth, per user account:
Number of blogs = Unlimited
Size of pages = Individual pages (the main page of a blog or archive pages) are limited to 1 MB
Number of labels = 2,000 unique labels per blog, 20 unique labels per post
Number of pictures (hyperlinked from user’s Picasa Web Album) = Up to 1 GB of total storage
Size of pictures = If posted via Blogger Mobile, limited 250 KB per picture; posted pictures are scaled to 800px ”
“WordPress has a templating system, which includes widgets that can be rearranged without editing PHP or HTML code, as well as themes that can be installed and switched between. The PHP and HTML code in themes can also be edited for more advanced customizations. WordPress also features integrated link management; a search engine-friendly, clean permalink structure; the ability to assign nested, multiple categories to articles; and support for tagging of posts and articles. Automatic filters that provide for proper formatting and styling of text in articles (for example, converting regular quotes to smart quotes) are also included. WordPress also supports the Trackback and Pingback standards for displaying links to other sites that have themselves linked to a post or article. Finally, WordPress has a rich plugin architecture which allows users and developers to extend its functionality beyond the features that come as part of the base install.

Native applications exist for Android, iPhone/iPod Touch, and BlackBerry which provide access to some of the features in the WordPress Admin panel and work with WordPress.com and many WordPress.org blogs.” (from wikipedia too)

Both of them are good options, blogger has Google as support so you can expect a lot of plugins for your blog and lots of applications to use with your blog (every now and then google launches a new technology or software, like android)

WordPress has experience in this market and they have very nice templates, its just a matter of tastes, you should check both of them

want to be

response from WebDesignerScotty
people, a blog that is well written and entertaining generally depends on lesen.Der rest of the demographic you’re looking for. You want to do a lot of useful do-it-yourself type, as well as tips and fun Unterhaltung.Ich that people misunderstand blogs though. It’s like friendships. They have a personality and if your’e in a group of people with a different personality, you can not make a lot of friends. But instead of changing it your personality, you should find people who will like your personality. Does that make sense? How to put your personality into your blog then complete the rest of it to market. You have to go out there and let you all have a blog, so you know, the number of people who come to visit and to increase in the number of people who remain in the vicinity wird.Ich hope that helps :) I I wish you good luck!

Blog Desk type software with SEO?

Question by : Blog Desk type software with SEO?
Is there any desktop blog publishing software that also has SEO rules built into it. I am thinking of something like XSite Pro but for blogs.
Right now I am using BlogDesk and really like it but, I know there is much more to SEO than just a title and tag and keyword density. XSite Pro atleast keeps me in line by checking my work before I publish. It, however, only works on static sites. What has similar capabilities but, is for blogging. Or what SEO plugin works best with BlogDesk.
Thank you for your consideration.

to blog or not to blog?

Question by a y a m e xD: to blog or not to blog?
can anyone tell me the pros and cons of blogging?

Best answer:

Answer by Tomas
Well when it comes to blogging, the first rule is that you should never say anything that you wouldnt want anyone to know unless it is completely private to you or put up photos you would be ashamed of. You should also never say anything about anyone you wouldnt say directly to them. It can be your very own journal but you should also always be prepared of it being seen. Overall it depends on the purpose of your blog

I’ve been experimenting with imbedding video on my 360 page. I also have a blog on my regular law office website that is powered by Blogger.com. Blogger.com is okay, but I am looking for recommendations on the best blogging platform to do a podcast or video blog.

I’m sure that I will need to host the video on a third party such as YouTube or Yahoo video, but I should have enough storage space and bandwidth to host the MP3 files on my own site. Any suggestions?
